Description

In order to provide the best Internetwork connectivity for the sites Interhost host, they have a policy to always peer with a minimum of two upstream providers at least one of which being a tier one provider.

The technology they use for upstream failure prevention is BGP4 configured on their Cisco routing equipment. They are members of the Ripe NCC (AS34679) and benefit from having their own AS and IP allocation.

This means Interhost is able to choose their upstream providers selectively and have the freedom to migrate to new providers without the need to re-number their network, and most importantly, without imposing downtime on their clients websites.
