TheHostGenie.com entered the industry in mid-2010 and has grown at an exponential rate. We take pride in our industry leading DNS redundancy and server security. Host Genie, LLC is a registered Limited Liability Company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USAOur Shared, VPS, and Dedicated servers are located in Scranton, PA in the 11,000 square foot BurstNET data center(described below).
Our VPS and Budget Dedicated servers are managed and maintained by BurstNET.
Our Premium Dedicated servers are located in Singlehop‘s Chicago data center.
We manage and maintain our own dedicated servers for shared and reseller hosting within the data center.
All Shared, Reseller, VPS, and Dedicated servers are protected from DDoS attacks with Cisco’s Anomaly Guard Modules.
Network
The network is connected via 10-Gigabit Ethernet Wavelength hand-offs on redundant/dual-path DWDM fiber-optic transport connections to XO Communications and Zayo Bandwidth.
Verizon (Formerly Bell Atlantic PA) and Frontier Communications (Formerly Commonweath Telephone – CTSI) fiber is also available in the facility.
The network currently connects POPs (Points of Presence) in Scranton, Philadelphia, & NYC.
Transit is provided via multiple 10-Gigabit/Gigabit Ethernet transit circuits from Telia (http://www.teliasoneraic.com), Cogent Communications (http://www.cogentco.com), BTN/PCCW (http://www.btnaccess.com), XO Communications (http://www.xo.com), Hurricane Electric (http://www.he.net), & Deutsche Telekom (http://www.deutschetelekom-icss.com).
The data center also peers with multiple carriers at the New York Internet Exchange (http://www.nyiix.net).
For redundancy, the data center is currently running BGP4 (border gateway routing protocol) to maintain the speed and uptime.
If one backbone line goes down, it will balance the load to the others.
If one line gets congested, it will load balance the traffic.
The data center is currently negotiating with additional major backbone providers to open POPs in the Scranton, PA facility, with XO Communications being available already at this time.
The data center is currently the only major data center/co-lo facility within 60-75 miles of the Tier-3 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre PA USA Metro Area.
Power Supply
Our data center is backed up and protected by multiple 275KVA and 160KVA Powerware 9315/9395 facility-wide UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, which feed PDI, MGE, & Liebert PDU (Power Distribution Unit) systems.
In the rare case of utility outage, the Cummins 250KW & Detroit Diesel 580KW & 675KW diesel generators start automatically, taking over for the UPS systems and supplying all necessary power for the facility.
The generators interface to the power grids through Asco™ 7000 & RussElectric RTBD automatic transfer panels.
With multiple fuel tanks on-site, the generators are capable of running without refueling for approximately 48 hours.
Environment
Precision-controlled raised floor air conditioning systems protect and cool mission-critical servers and equipment in the our data center.
The facility is controlled by multiple 30-Ton APC/Airflow, 20-Ton Liebert, & 20-Ton Data Aire dual-compresser redundant systems. These systems provide a virtually dust-free and particle-free computing environment – with high quality temperature, humidity, and air-quality regulation.
Security
Restricted access to the data center is monitored by security personnel every hour and day of the year.
Visitors and clientele are only allowed on-site if escorted by data center staff.
The entire data center is monitored, ensuring prompt response and thorough coverage to fire or security alarms.
We supply all of our data center customers with advanced firewall, encryption, intrusion detection and other security measures.
A full digital video surveillance system of the data center is maintained, with full on-site and off-site recording.
